The government was asked to implement the rules issued by the central government to set up an independent mechanism for redressal and action on complaints about text broadcast on social media, digital news portals and OTT. However, with the exception of Facebook, the app on social media has not yet implemented these rules. Such a situation has led to such a large investment in KOO.

The number of Koo downloaders has increased rapidly in the last few days. The number of Koo users has crossed 60 lakhs. "We have changed the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use as per the new standards," Koo said in an articulation.

Koo said in a statement last Saturday that its personal policy, terms of use and guidelines comply with the rules applicable to social media.

In addition, a mechanism has been introduced for investigation and redressal of grievances. Koo said a chief executive and a nodal officer in India would look into the matter.
